Cowbridge is our nearest town — Llandow is a ten-minute drive down the B4270. We do a lot of oak framing here: garden rooms behind the older houses on the eastern side, porches on the town-centre properties, and driveway gates out towards Aberthin and Llanblethian. Several of the streets in the centre sit in a conservation area, where permitted development rights are tighter than usual, so it's worth a conversation before you settle on a size.
